Patty Kiedel

Jerseyville |

Patty Ann Kiedel, 63, died at 6:10 a.m., Sunday, November 29, 2015 at her home in Jerseyville under the care of OSF St. Anthony’s Hospice.

She was born on November 4, 1952 in Alton, one of six children born to the late Paul W. and Vivian M. (Needham) O’Toole.

She married Larry Keidel on June 30, 1971 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville and together they shared 28 years of marriage before his death on November 5, 1999.

Patty was a 1970 graduate of Jersey Community High School and went on to hold various jobs. She began her working career at Heritage Savings & Loan in Jerseyville where she worked for 18 years before she began working in registration for Jersey Community Hospital, where she remained for nearly 10 years. Later, she was employed in data processing for Express Scripts in Maryland Heights, MO and most recently as an Assistant Biller for Care & Counseling of Creve Couer, MO where she retired from on December 31, 2013.

It was her family, however, who brought her the greatest joy and pleasure in life, especially when it came to her children, grandsons and her great-granddaughter – all of whom she was immensely proud of.

She later met Don Young and although their time together was all to short, he stood by her and her family and remained a dedicated and loyal companion to her to the end.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Arlin & Dana Ruholl of Montrose and Chris Keidel of Alton; a daughter, Jamie Johnson of Roxana; five grandsons, Nicholas Johnson and his fiancé Meagan Winchester, Dillon Ruholl, Joseph Johnson, Rowdy Ruholl and Maveric Ruholl; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Johnson ; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Jo Kessler and Patsy & Pat Walz, both of Jerseyville; and a brother, Paul W. O’Toole of Jacksonville, NC.; her companion, Don Young of Jerseyville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn “Midge” Baumgartner; a brother, Michael O’ Toole; and a sister-in-law, Lynn O’Toole.

Per her wishes, cremation rights have been accorded and a Memorial Visitation celebrating her life will be held from 4 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 6 p.m.  Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with the Father William Hembrow officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospice in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
