Myrtle Wersching, 99, formerly of Maryville, passed away at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.
Born Feb. 13, 1915 in Charleston, Mo., she was a daughter of Asa Johnson and Cora (Rudd) Plummer Harper.
She married Mathias Wersching June 23, 1960 in Granite City. He passed away in 1978.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Caroline Wallace of Florida; stepgrandchildren, Dawn Lopez, Danny Coombs, Karen and Danny Wersching, and Christy Cannady; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Cannady; a stepson, Adam Wersching; a sister, Bessie Mae Blackburn; and five brothers, Thurmon, Claude, Dewey, Lalas and Ulus Harper.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 11 at the First General Baptist Church of Wood River. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
