Maxine Cummings, 79, passed away peacefully at 8:55 am Sunday, December 1, 2013 at her home with her family by her side, under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on March 29, 1934 in Avert, MO, the daughter of John and Clara (McCoy) Morlan.
She married Robert Patrick on December 23, 1950. He passed away on April 16, 1974. Later she married Lloyd Cummings on May 20, 1975. He passed away on August 7, 2007.
Maxine was a homemaker most of her life. She loved her dog Scamp.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Roxanne Downs and Charlie Webster of Fosterburg, Robin and Darrell Plank of East Alton and Wally and Anna Patrick of Cottage Hills; her stepchildren and their spouses, Janet and Mike Harvey of Hartford, Debbie and Doug Eyers of Brighton, Karen and Dave Wittman of Brighton, Cheryl and Bill Brock of Carrolton, Mike Cummings of Wood River and Steve Cummings of Wood River; fourteen grandchildren, Caleb, Noah, Ashley, Samantha, Nicole, Cimme, Jaime, Mandy, Melissa, Andrea, Makayla, Chris, Chris and Alison; six great grandchildren, Abby, Jacob, Cameron, Christian, Jack and Luke; numerous step grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bessie Morlan of Advance, MO; two daughters-in-law, Tina and Jody Patrick; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert A. Patrick and Michael M. Patrick, her siblings, Walter Morlan, Calvin Morlan, Ivan Morlan, Thelma Howard, Geraldine Morlan, Bernice Duncan and Vela Acord.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the funeral home with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or 5 A’s Animal Shelter.
