Mary Vera Mottes, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 12:15 pm at home surrounded by loved ones while under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on March 11, 1926 in Alton the daughter of Tony and Mary (Pinta) Ventimiglia.
Mary attended Alton Schools and on September 6, 1947 she married the love of her life, Louis A. Mottes of Alpha, Michigan. For the next 47 years they lived in Upper Michigan and after his death in 1994 she returned to Alton to be close to family.
She is survived by a sister, best friend and caregiver, Josephine Ventimiglia of Alton, seven nieces and nephews, Tony & Shelia Ventimiglia of Bethalto, Vicki Robison of St. Charles, MO, Mary Jane & Ray Hettick of Godfrey, Jackie & Randy Hettick of Alton, Marianne & Randy Weigler of Springfield, Paul & Frannie Ventimiglia of Middletown, OH, and Andrea & Butch Weirich of Godfrey; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Frances Ventimiglia and Paul and Marilyn Ventimiglia.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Sunday July 26, 2105 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday July 27, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. John Luong OMV celebrant.
Burial will be held at Crystal Falls Cemetery in Crystal Falls, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Masses.
