Mary Bond

Mary “Irene” Bond, 93 passed away at 1:10 am, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 with her family by her side.She was born on November 5, 1921 in Alton, IL the daughter of the late George and Rebecca (Emmons) Tungett.Irene married Clayton D. Bond on December 10, 1938 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2000. She was a homemaker, a beloved wife, and nurturing matriarch of five generations. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by four children and their spouses; Cindy and Lester Schlemer of Alton, Connie and Mike Collins of East Alton, Clayton “Butch” Bond and special friend Judy of Rosewood Heights, Gordon & Theda Bond of Meadowbrook; eight grandchildren and spouses, Scott & Linda Collins of Wood River, Traci & Jason Wright of Fosterburg, Melissa & Steve Schnare of St. Charles, MO, Martin & Shannon Bond of Bethalto, Erin & Paul Ventimiglia of Alton, Christopher Hines and special friend Amanda of Godfrey, Nicholas Bond of Keysport, and Courtney & Jacob Koch of Rosewood Heights; thirteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Carson Wright, four siblings, Lucille Sloan, Homer, Robert, and William Tungett.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday March 27, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday March 28, 2015 with Pastor Ron Wenzel officiating.Burial will be follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto.Memorials may be directed to Southern Illinois Hospice.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
