Marvin A. Kraut, 76, passed away at 2:03pm on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his residence. He was born on October 15, 1937, in Calhoun County, Illinois the son of the late Edward and Edna (Weaver) Kraut. He married the former Linda Dirickson on December 20, 1991, in Edwardsville and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Nancy and Kit Stube of Hazelwood, Missouri, Ashley and Jerry Dudley of Wood River, three sons: Edward Kraut Sr. of South Roxana, Patrick Gillson of South Roxana, Travis Gillson of Wood River, eleven grandchildren: Ryan Toliver and his wife: Cheryl of Noble, Illinois, Megan Toliver of Noble, Illinois, Ben Stube of Edwardsville, Emily Stube of Edwardsville, Skylar Gray of Wood River, Destinee Dudley of Wood River, Tyler Gillson of Jacksonville, Illinois, Brody Gillson of Wood River, Brianna Gillson of Wood River, Ed Kraut Jr. of South Roxana, Kate Kraut of Alton, two great grandchildren: Lilly Toliver and Maddy Toliver both of Noble, Illinois, two sisters and a brother in law: Shirley and Bob Hintzman of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ginny Dittbenner of Phoenix, Arizona, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family and friends.
He formerly owned and operated Ed Kraut and Son Tree Service. He was a member of the American Legion in South Roxana, the South Roxana Dad’s Club, and was a former member of the Eagles Aerie #254 in Alton. He was a former volunteer fireman in South Roxana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy, Norma Lee, and Ava.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9am until time of services at 12pm on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor John Lile will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks Nation Cemetery in St. Louis.
