Martha Lucretia Boyles, 80, passed away at 2:44 pm Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at VIP Manor in Wood River under the care of Unity Hospice
She was born on May 18, 1933 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Lee and Mary (Centers) Tavernier.
She was married to Harley “Ray” Boyles in 1963 by the late Rev. Wilbur Largon. He passed away on February 16, 2006.
Martha was a bottle packer for Owens Illinois Glass for fourteen years. She was a member of the Women’s Club of East Alton where she served as President and Vice President and was a Democrat Committee Women.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Denise and Kenny Stagner of Meadowbrook, Lisa Fleigle of Independence, MO and Michele and Tim Buller of Bethalto; seven grandchildren, Christopher Stagner, Angela Moxey, Erica and Shelby Fleigle and Adam, Meredith and Samuel Buller; three great grandchildren, Jordan Stagner, Austin and Emma Moxey; a sister, Loretta Gonzales of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Boyles of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Leroy Tavernier, Raymond Tavernier, Owen Tavernier and Sam Tavernier and four sisters, Marie Bedwell, Opal Hellrung, Marcella Shake and Garnett Tavernier.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Private burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
