Martha A. Hammond, 77, passed away 11:45 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
Born on July 19, 1938 in Odin, IL, she was the daughter of William and Matie (Wert) Galbreath.
She had bee a cook at Alton Memorial Hospital and was a self-employed seamstress.
On July 26, 1959 in Wood River, she married Henry Oren Hammond. He died in 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald (Carolyn) Hammond of Brixey, MO, James Hammond of Wood River; daughter, Joyce Phillips of Owensville, MO; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, William Galbreath of Alton; four sisters, Nancy Kline of Salem, Alberta Elaine Galbreath of Valdosta, GA, Merrill Fromme of Wood River,and Paula Diuguid of Cottage Hills.
Preceding in death were her parents; husband; and a sister, Donna Toner.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Aaron Love will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
