Marsha Klug

Marsha Klug, 71, passed away at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at her residence in Alton, IL with her family by her side.

Marsha was born on January 18, 1943, in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Charlotte (Prosser) Hawkins.

Marsha married Richard Klug in June 1961.  Richard preceded her in death on August 23, 2005.

Marsha is survived by two daughters; Krista Hubenschmidt, Alton, IL., and Robin (James) Palecek, St. Louis, MO.; two sons; Stephen Klug, Winfield MO., and Richard (Lisa) Klug Alton, IL., eight grandchildren; Alexander, Adam, and Heidi Hubenschmidt, Anna Maria Klug, Mitchell and Matthew Klug, Danielle Lawson, and Nicole Palecek, one great-grandchild;  Layla Lawson, and one brother; Mark (Julie) Hawkins, Louisville, KY. She is also survived by extended family members and many close friends.

Marsha worked as a Registered Nurse and retired from BJC Healthcare in St. Louis, MO after many dedicated and rewarding years.  She took great pride in establishing the Alzheimer’s Unit at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL. During her retirement years she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Her love and devotion to her grandchildren was redoubled by the love they returned to her. Marsha was especially blessed that all her grandchildren were an integral part of her daily life.

Visitation will take place Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m.
