Marie Nurnberger

Marie J. Nurnberger, 90 of Jerseyville, died at 2:00 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on December 30, 1925 in Jersey County, Illinois to the late Lester W. & Edna M. (Boker) Geisler.

Marie married Otto H. Nurnberger on January 16, 1946 of Jerseyville.  He died June 20, 2001.

She was a homemaker. Marie was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in the Women’s Fellowship.  She also belonged to the Rebekah’s Lodge # 686.

Survivors include 1 daughter and son in law; Linda & Richard Piper of Jerseyville, 1 son and daughter in law; Otto & Brenda Nurnberger of Jerseyville, 4 grandchildren; Julie Piper of Wichita, KS., Gary Piper & Brock Keiper of Elmhust, IL., Ryan & Genna Nurnberger of Chicago, IL., Jamie & Jon Cargill of Glasgow, Scotland, 1 great grandchild; Rosie Marie Cargill

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers; Warren & Lester Jr. “Buss” Geisler and 1 sister; Pauline Gotter

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton

Rev. Laurie Crelly will officiate

Burial will be at Brighton Cemetery

Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton

The family would like to thank the staff at Glenhaven, BJC Hospice of Alton and The Wound Center of St. Anthony’s for the care they have given to Marie.

Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of the arrangements.
