Margaret Schroeder

Margaret Mary Schroeder, 91, of Jerseyville, died at 8:45 a.m., Monday, January 28 2013 at the home of her son, Ron, after a period of declining health.She was born in Hardin on Nov. 28, 1921, one of four children born to the late John B. & Rose (Woelfel) Hagen.Margaret graduated from the Hardin High School, and completed here senior year at Jersey Township High School.She was devoted wife and mother, and after her children were raised, she returned to school, and earned her nursing certificate.  She was employed as a LPN at Jersey Community Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1990.Margaret was blessed with a beautiful voice, and was a charter member of the Carrollton Community Chorus.She married Raymond Schroeder on Sept. 2, 1940 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin, and together they raised five children, and shared nearly 47 years together before his death on Aug. 1, 1987.  She later married Russell L. Schroeder on Sept. 8, 1990 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and he died on May 19, 2004.Surviving are her five children & their spouses, Gary Schroeder of St. Louis, Mo., Joyce Talley of Carrollton, Dr. Ron Schroeder, Dr. Richard & Annette Schroeder, and Richard & Marilyn Schroeder all of Jerseyville; 21 Grandchildren; 34 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren.In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard, Renard & Gerald Hagen.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Friday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Haitian Foundation of Hope, St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville, St. John's Catholic School in Carrollton, or to Masses
