Margaret L. Monroe of Alton passed away January 10, 2016, at her home. She was born September 6, 1939 in Carbon, OK the daughter of Angelo and Mary Testa. She married Lee “Mad Dog” Monroe July 5, 1959. She is survived by her husband, sons and daughter in laws; Tony and Cathy Monroe of Brighton, IL., Steven Monroe of Alton, IL, and Joseph and Dr. Stephanie Monroe of Godfrey, IL., brother, Ronald(Betty) Testa of McAlester, OK, sister Rose (Donald ) Sandidge of Metamora, IL and stepsister, Betty(Mickey) Nolan of Adamson, OK. Also surviving are grandchildren, Rebecca Tobin, Stephen Monroe (Becca), Ashley Reigert (Michael), Scott Monroe, Karissa Monroe, Antonio Monroe, Cody Monroe, Bella Monroe and Christian Monroe and great grandson, Thayer Reigert and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends are Phil and Ann Ellis and Pat Mossman. She is preceded in death by her parents and step mother Verna Testa, grandparents, George and Sabina Dupuich and Frank and Nora Testa. She was an avid member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, a supporter of St. Ambrose and Marquette High School, and a loving friend to all. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. There will be a private mass and burial.
