Lucille Thompson

Lucille L. Thompson, age 71, of Edwardsville, Illinois, died at 6:31 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at University Nursing and Rehab Center in Edwardsville. She was born on October 24, 1944, in Granite City, Illinois the daughter of the late Imogene Lischmann. Lucille worked as a nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Granite City for 15 years.

She spent the next 15 years at St. Louis University Hospital as a registered nurse. Lucille married Elmer Yarber on March 30, 1963 in Wood River, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1966.

Lucille is survived by one daughter, Traci L. Thompson of Edwardsville; two sisters, Marilyn Lindley of Pocahontas, Illinois and Marian Gross of Desoto, Missouri. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori A. Yarber; a son, Michael A. Yarber; and one sister, Sandy Wright. Lucille graduated from Edwardsville High School and from the School of Nursing at Lewis & Clark Community College with her nursing degree.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. James Brooks officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville at a later date.
