Lonnie Weaver

Lonnie “Lon” Weaver, 61, passed away at 1:23pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 14, 1953, in Wood River, the son of J. Glenn Weaver of Edwardsville and the late Helen M. (Drainer) Weaver.  He married the former Michele Rook on March 22, 1975, in Rosewood Heights, and she survives.  Other survivors two sons and daughters in law: Joe and Val Weaver of Edwardsville, Luke and Kourtney Weaver of Troy, seven grandchildren: Carsyn, Jackson, Yale, Evi, Greyer, Loch, Rowdy, three sisters and two brothers in law: Nancee and Kelly Bury of St. Charles, Missouri, Anna and Max Ellis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dee Sido of East Alton, three brothers and sisters in law: Dan and Debi Weaver of Wood River, Chris and Marianne Weaver of Switzerland, Claude and Tammy Weaver of Wheaton, Illinois, his father in law and mother in law: David and Ginger Rook of Rosewood Heights, a brother in law and sister in law: Joe and Lisa Rook of Edwardsville, a sister in law and brother in law: Melissa and Bob Perica of Edwardsville, a special aunt: Joyce Kirby of Glen Carbon, an uncle and aunt: Dick and Marilyn Karns of East Alton, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family and friends.

He practiced law in the Riverbend for 34 years.  He was a volunteer firefighter for the Holiday Shores Fire Department and Rosewood Heights Fire Department for over 25 years.  He was a past school board member for the Roxana School District.  A former member of the Bethalto Knights of Columbus, he was a member of the Madison County Bar Association.  He was a member of Duck’s Unlimited and Migratory Water Fowl Incorporated.  He was a season ticket holder for the St. Louis Cardinals for 25 years.  He loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step – mother: Jeanine Haselhorst Weaver. 

In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River with a prayer service at 1:30pm on Sunday at the funeral home.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto.  Father Tom Liebler will be the celebrant. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady Queen of Peace or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
