Linda Lee Hammons, 65, passed away at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at her home.
Born Jan. 27, 1950 in Wilmington, N.C., she was a daughter of Slone and Bobbie (Carter) Thompson.
She worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the Cottage Hills Post Office for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Buffy (Kyle) Chappell of Alton; her son, Jason (Aime) Hamlett of Bethalto; a grandson, Colton Hamlett; her mother, Bobbie Thompson of Wood River; a sister, Vickie Baker of East Alton; and her nieces and nephews, Britney and Lacey Baker, and Hayden and Mason Harp.
She was preceded in death by her father, Slone Thompson; a sister, Gloria Thompson; a brother, Robert Dale Thompson; her husbands, Jim Hamlett and Dennis Hammons; and a brother-in-law, Jim Baker.
Graveside services will be 12 noon Wednesday, March 11 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.
