Lillian Nohava

Wood River |

Lillian Nohava, 89, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River.

Born on March 18, 1926 in Omaha, IL, she was the daughter of Clarence and Melvine (Cox) Mills.

She worked in the corrigation department of Owens-IL Glass for 30 years before retiring in 1981.  She then joined her husband, working as a cashier at "Bill and Joe's Service Station" in East Alton.

She married Joseph James Nohava on September 23, 1944 in Eldorado, IL.  He died on August 16, 2005.

Surviving are a son, Bruce Nohava of Wood River; his friend Terry Patterson and his daughter, Payton Sue Patterson; two sisters, Louise Johnson of Wood River, Mary Ruth Stabel of Perrington, TX; and her beloved cat, "Precious".

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and four brothers, Lee, Leslie, Lenis and Arnold Mills.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Pastor Bob Beloit will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville.
