Lee F. Copley, 89, passed away at 12:30 am Wed Dec 24, 2014  at his home.He was born on May 9, 1925 in Cassie WV, the son of Rev Ballard & Vera (Wallace) Copley. He married Carol Wheat on May 9, 1946 in Traverse City, MI. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2013He was a salesman for Colgate-Palmolive Soap Company covering 27 counties in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. In 1960, he moved his family to Brighton, IL where he worked for Owens-Illinois Glass in Godfrey until his retirement in 1987. In the late 1960’s, he served as Macoupin Country Khoury League Commissioner for 2 years and enjoyed coaching his sons Khoury League baseball teams.  Upon retirement, he and his wife spent the summers in Traverse City, MI where they always welcomed family and friends with open arms when they came to visit.He served in the US Navy in World War II from 1943 to 1946. He felt privileged to be part of the first Naval Aviation Drones that were used in World War II. He served most of his tour in the Solomon Island. He was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post #1308. Surviving are:Two Daughters; Debbie (Jerry) Cardwell of Alton and Valerie Foiles of Alton, 2 Sons; Kevin Copley of E Alton and Kimball (Diana) Copley of Brighton. Eight Grandchildren: Shanna (Christopher) Melton of Bremerton, WA; Nikole (Todd) Salzman of Brighton; Amber (Stevie) Lewis of Forrest Grove, OR; Jamie Cardwell of St Louis; Kelly Copley of Gillespie; Kristin (Josh) Luparell of St Louis; Jeremy Lair of Brighton; and Lindsey Copley of Jerseyville. Eleven Great Grandchildren: Caleb, Zeke, and Noelle Lewis, Shelby and Brady Salzman, Cory, Tanner and Kennedie Moore, William and Alex Lair, and Ella Luparell.One Brother; Luther (Bud) Copley of Louisa, KTOne Sister; Grace Hammond of Williamson, VWBesides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a Daughter; Twilla Paynic, Three Brothers: Russell (Burgess) Copley, Kimble Copley and Donald CopleyNine Sisters; Lona Noel, Ishmel Colpley, Ackley Copley, Maxcine Copley, Ada Cornes, Blanche Hammond, Hildred (Helen) Lester, Ethel (Corine) Hopson and Kansas (JoAnn) Copley.
