Larry W. Rush, 74, passed away at 8:05 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born in Alton, Illinois on April 10, 1940, the son of the late Phillip and Roberta Inez (Sneed) Rush.
Larry was a manager of the menswear department at Young’s Department Store in downtown Alton and at P.N. Hirsch in East St. Louis and then became a sales representative for a number of major men’s clothing brands, for which he travelled the Midwest extensively. Later, he became a realtor, earned his GRI designation, and worked for Century 21 and Landmark Realty in the Riverbend area. He was a member of the Alton Eagles FOE #254 and the Piasa Masonic Lodge and enjoyed bowling, gardening and reading.
He is survived by his mother, Roberta; one brother, Garry P. (Evelyn) Rush of Grafton; one sister, Pamela Rush (Toby Myers) of Godfrey; and a niece, Kelli (Rusty) Wittman of Dow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip; a nephew, Garry P. Rush Jr.; and his longtime friend and loving companion, Sharon Watson.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Roy Rhoades officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
