Katurah Marie Arbuthnot, 87, passed away 10:10 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at her residence.

Born on November 27, 1926 in Borger, TX, she was the daughter of Charles Aaron Putnam and Sarah Columbus Bragg Putnam.

She was united in marriage on April 12, 1947 in Wood River to Charles F. Arbuthnot.  

Their married life was spent in the Wood River area.  Marie was involved in her children's activities: Boy scouts, Girl scouts, Mother's Club, Band Parents, and  P.T.A.

At church, She was a Sunday school teacher, in chior, United Women Group, Church women United; and was a member of P.E.O. in both the Wood River and Springfield chapters.

Following the death of her husband on July 4, 1996, she moved to Chatham.  She was active in the Senior Citizens and attended church at Westminister Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

In 2005, she moved back to Bethalto.

Marie is survived by two sons, James R. Arbuthnot of Glen Ellyn, Steven C. (Jane) Arbuthnot of Springfield; a daughter, Sarah M. (Timothy) Riggs of Greenville; two grandchildren, Lindsey M. (Robert) Clancey of Kansas City, Steven Ryan Arbuthnot of Springfield; brother, Don M. Putnam; sister, Leanna Borders; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters and their husbands, Juanita L. and Melvin Rogers, Faye and Clinton Kidd; brother, Herbert Bragg Putnam; brother-in-law, Kenneth Borders; sister-in-law, Freda Putnam; two nieces, Linda F. Kidd Dorsey, Melva D. Lupton; and special aunt and uncle, Florence and Glen Herndon.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at The United Presbyterian Church, 2550 Rock Hill Road, Wood River and will continue from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday.  Julie Gvillo will officiate.

Burial will follow in Liberty Prairie Cemetery near Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to The United Prebyterian Church in Wood River 

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
