Kathy L. Bowman, 57, passed away at 5:12 a.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Feb. 2, 1958 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Don Bowman of Atlanta, Ga. and Marilyn (Davidson) Bowman of Roxana.
Kathy worked as a social services counselor for the State of Missouri, and she was also a talented musician. She was a longtime member of the Alton Muny Band, as well as an alumnus of SIUE and Ithaca College in upstate New York.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her partner Treva Swain of Roxana and her daughters, Michelle (Wil) Oerter and their children Riley and Addison, all of East Alton, Sarah Salzman of Long Beach, Calif. and Shawndra Brooks and her children Autumn and Kiya, all of Roxana; brothers Paul (Naomi) Bowman of Washington, DC and their children Christian and Hannah, Jim (Sue) Bowman of Denver, Colo. and their children Danielle and Samantha, and Billy Bowman of Atlanta; and two sisters, Linda and Yen Bowman, both of Atlanta.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.
Memorials may be made to the Kathy Bowman Scholarship Fund at the music department of SIUE.
