Kathryn “Kaye” S. Mathews, 87, died at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. She was born February 12, 1929 in Alton the daughter of Louis and Martha (Kunkler) Prullage. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. She was a bookkeeper for the Alton Telegraph for many years. On May 30, 1953 in Alton she married Richard Mathews and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2003. Surviving are two daughters; Cathy Gore (Steve) of St. Charles, MO and Teresa Toner (Mike) of Edwardsville, three sons; Mark Mathews (Paula) of Dow, IL, Steve Mathews (Michelle) of Godfrey and Tim Mathews (Mary) of Godfrey, 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, one brother; Tom Prullage of Godfrey and one sister; Martha Rynders of Alton. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Jenna, two brothers; Jim and Bob Prullage and three sisters; Patricia Storm, Jean Tosovsky and Charlene Prullage. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton with Msg. Kenneth Steffen officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul School and SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
