Judith Snider

Judith Ann Snider, 59, died unexpectedly at 3:37 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her home.She was born in Jerseyville on Aug. 13, 1955, the daughter of Harold & Wilma Jean (Angel) Snider.She graduated in 1972 from Jersey Community High School, and had been employed at the A&W in Jerseyville, and had made pies for the Elsah Landing for many years.  Judy was a caregiver at heart, and took care of her sister when she was terminal with cancer, cared for her Mother in her later years, and has devoted her entire life to her two nephews since the death of her sister & mother, ensuring that the boys were able to remain in their home and be cared for in a loving environment.Surviving are her former husband and lifelong companion, James Hughes of Grafton; her two nephews, Emil Surratt & Benjamin Surratt both of Jerseyville; aunts & uncles, Violet Becker of Michael, Harvey Angel of Michael, and Gerald Angel of Farmington, Il; her brothers in law & sisters in law, Kevin & Becky Hughes of Fieldon, Ebb & Margie Hughes of Kane, Jeff Hughes of Grafton, Jon & Donna Hughes of Grafton, Cindy & Art Harris of Grafton, and Donna of Indiana.She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Snider; her mother & step father, Wilma Jean & Walter Meyer; a sister, Carol Jean Surratt; and a brother, Kenneth Snider.A Memorial Gathering will begin at 4 p.m., Wednesday at the Grafton American Legion.Private burial will take place at the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton at a later date.Memorials may be given to the Grafton American Legion in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
