Joyce Orban

Alton |

Joyce Marilyn Orban, precious mother and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly the morning of December 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter L. Orban and her brother, Jerry G. Rogers.

Joyce is survived by her son, Bruce L. Orban and his wife, Sue, and her daughter, Debbie L. (Orban) Kelly and her husband Loren David Kelly. She has 5 grandchildren; Kelly Orban and her husband Jeff Dixon, Jared Brooks, Jamie Orban, Nikki Orban, Lauren Kelly, and one great-granddaughter, Alina Orban. She is also survived by her precious dog, Tulsa.

Joyce was passionate about living her life fully. She remained close to her surviving sisters-in-law; Elaine, Janice, Joann, and Verna. She loved to travel and had recently traveled to Louisiana to spend time with Elaine. She and her late husband, Walter, treasured their summer vacations out west. Every Wednesday she had breakfast with friends at Joe K’s. She enjoyed dining out with friends and family and was very involved with her grand-children..

Holidays were precious to her. Joyce was hoping for one more Christmas. She made out her Christmas cards, although she hadn’t been feeling well these past few weeks. She requested that the cards be mailed if anything happened to her.

Horses were another passion. She enjoyed horses and horse shows vicariously through her daughter, Debbie, and grand-daughter, Lauren. She was proud of the accomplishments of all her children and grandchildren. Her home is filled with pictures of her family, her trips, her life.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
