John Campbell

Wood River |

John Junior Campbell, 87, of Wood River, IL passed away on Thurs Nov. 20, 2014 at 11:25 a.m., peacefully in his sleep. 

He was born on Feb. 19, 1927 in Arlington, SD to the late John & Ora (Graves) Campbell.

He married his wife, Barbara (Avramovich) Campbell on Oct. 4, 1952 in Wood River.  She survives.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, Teamster for Local 525, union truck driver for 40 years before retiring.  He enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and brothers, umpiring, running beagles and field trials.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: their 7 children, Timothy (Donna) Campbell, Ronald Campbell, Kathy (Ron) Boucher, Christine (Eliot) Gray, Barbara Campbell, Lisa Campbell, and Kirk Campbell, 9 grandchildren, Brady (Niki) Arview, Josh (Holly) Campbell, Lindsay Campbell, Tara, Melissa, Jacob & Ryan Gray, Samantha Boucher & Kellen Campbell, 7 great-grandchildren, Braden, Bryer & Bristol Arview, Reed & Gage Campbell, Avery Gray & Hunter Campbell and numerous nieces, cousins & friends. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents, 4 sisters, Marie Wyhs, Opal Pyle, Marge McCormick & Louise Ayers, 5 brothers, Glen, Ralph, Donald, Douglas & Jerry Campbell and 2 grandchildren, Jeremy & Heather Boucher,

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sun. Nov. 23, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Mon. Nov. 24 with Fr. James Flach officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodland Hills Cemetery.
