Jody Lynn Walker

Jody worked as a hairdresser for her grandmother’s Village Beauty Salon in upper Alton. She loved her pets and had strong roots in the Southern Baptist Church. Through all her own trials and tribulations she kept her good natured spirit and was always concerned for the well-being of others. Her family is blessed with this memory of her kind heart.She is survived by her mother, Merle Janet Acord of Alton; a sister and brother-in-law, Jana & Joe Hellrung and their children Caitlin Hellrung and Lucas Hellrung, her extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, her very dear friend Tina Gentelin, with whom she spoke on the phone every day for 43 years, as well as her caretaker in the end, Richard Hainey. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Nicole Walker; her father, James Curtis Walker; her companion of 20 years Roy Overton; and her grandparents, HallordAcord, Merle Acord, Truman Walker, and Cecil Walker. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family graveside will be held. Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton are entrusted with arrangements.
