Jimmie L. Jones, 85, passed away at 6:10 a.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at Willow Rose Health Care & Rehab Center in Jerseyville.
Born Dec. 16, 1930 in Winslow, Ind., he was the son of Edmund and Lee (Royalty) Jones.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he married Joyce J. Williams May 30, 1957, and she survives.
Jimmie worked at various airports, retiring in 1981 as Chief of the FAA office at St. Louis Regional Airport in Bethalto.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tracey (Bud) Summers and Tammy Jones, all of Bethalto; four grandsons, Robby and Ryan Lowrance and Trevor(Casse) Shaw and Travis (Misty) Shaw; six great grandchildren, Mason, Jaeda, Tatum, Maebry, Ty and Weston Shaw; two sisters, Madonna Rembe of Ellisville, Ind. and Sandra Henshaw of Marion, Ky., and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Memorial visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 5-7:30 p.m., with a Celebration Reading at 7:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nature Institute, 2213 Levis Lane, Godfrey or Willow Rose Health Care & Rehab Activity Fund.
