Janice “Ya Ya” Lee Vassos

Janice “Ya Ya” Lee Vassos, 70, of East Alton, IL, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tues. Nov. 10, 2015 at Bethalto Care Center.

She was born May 13, 1945 in Alton, IL to the late Laura (Clark) Johnson and Dewey Burgoyne Sr.

On May 28, 1966, she and Elias “Louie” Vassos were married in Alton.  He survives in East Alton.

Janice worked for Owens IL Glass as a Box Maker & Cavity Checker and later retired from Olin Corp as a Machine Operator & Inspector.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: a son, John Vassos of Rosewood Heights, IL, 2 grandsons, Joseph & Jacob, a brother, Dewey Burgoyne Jr. of East Alton and 3 sisters, Carol (Leroy) Luck of Bunker Hill, IL, Judy Luck of East Alton and Helen (Lowell) Wethington of Oxford, MS.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fri., Nov. 13, 2015 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Sat., Nov. 14, 2015 with Rev. Andre Dobson officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.
