Janet Joan Goessman, age 75, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of the Bethalto area, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ.
She was born March 4, 1938, in Wood River, the daughter of William and Anna (Strong) Broadway. She married Robert E. Goessman on June 8, 1957, and he preceded her in death in 1962.
Mrs. Goessman retired from Barnes-Jewish Medical Center where she had worked as a medical billing clerk. She had served as the church secretary for many years at Bethalto United Methodist Church before moving to Scottsdale, AZ.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Douglas and Toni Goessman of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Allison Perrine of Ft. Worth, TX, William Goessman of Phoenix, AZ, Justin Courtney, and his wife Brittany Flowers, of St. Louis, MO, and Catherine Goessman of Phoenix, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Evan Banda of Ft. Worth, TX, and Juniper Flowers-Courtney of St. Louis, MO; and a sister, Barbara Witt of Godfrey.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 10:00 am at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery. Pastor Mike Rayson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
