James Wesley Ramel, 60, died unexpectedly at 5:25 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 in rural Jersey County.He was born on October 30, 1953, in Lincoln, Nebraska, one of two children born to the late Dean & Marjorie (Kulenkamp) Ramel.James grew up in Chesterfield, Il., and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Carlinville High School.Shortly after graduation he began working for Olin Global Brass in East Alton, and was currently employed as a Maintenance Technician, and has been a loyal and dedicated employee for 42 years. and was a member of the Pipefitters Union.He married the former Vickie Haun on March 9, 1974 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and their marriage has been blessed with three children.Surviving are his wife, Vickie Ramel of Jerseyville; three children & their spouses,Eric & Melissa Ramel of St. Peters, MO., Tracie & Kenny Smith of Jerseyville, and Sara Ramel of Jerseyville; one grandson, Christopher Ramel, and another grandchild due in February; one sister, Patricia Ramel of Chesterfield; his mother in law & father in law, Esther & Dale Foiles of Jerseyville; and an aunt and uncle, Ann & Darrell Johnson of Litchfield.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, William "Bill" Haun, and a brother in law, John Haun.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Xaiver Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Technology fund at St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville.
