James Easley

James O. Easley (J.O.E), 69, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at his residence in Godfrey, with his family by his side.

He was born in Jacksonville, IL on November 1, 1945. He was the son of Albert and Rachel (Hall) Easley.  

He married Cathy L. Smith on December 3, 1966 in Cahokia, IL. She survives.  

Joe was in the U.S. Army for 3 years then worked at Ford Motor Co. in Hazelwood, MO., for 38 years.  He was an accomplished carpenter, built several homes and helped many families and businesses with renovations.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by: four daughters, Sherry G. and Tony Millitello of Belleville, IL., Lori A. and Tim Schmittle of Albuquerque, NM., Cathy Jo and David Dean of Glencoe, MO., Lisa M. Easley and Partner Mark Clark, of Jerseyville; eleven grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Caleb, Paige, Dylan, Kyleigh, Jarrett, Wyatt, Mason, Ayden and Levi due in August; a brother, Gerald L. and Joyce Easley of Hanna City, IL.; two sisters, Vivian F. and John C. Jr. Davis of Collinsville, Tammy J. and Billy J. Jr. Likes of Meredosia, IL.;  a sister-in-law Rose E. and Eugene J. Stumpf of Batchtown, IL.; two brothers-in-law, James L. and Debbie Smith of Smithton, IL., William C. “Chuck” Jr. and Denise Smith of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his father and a sister, Laura Roeber.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 pm Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral home in Godfrey.

Funeral Services will be at 10 am Monday, July 6, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Glenn Greenwood officiating.

Interment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with military honors by VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to the family.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and support throughout this past year.
