James “Jim” Ray (Lowe) Renault

James “Jim” Ray (Lowe) Renault, 64, passed away at 7:35 am Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at his home. 

 

He was born on December 4, 1948 in Alton, IL, the son of Charles and Alma Louise (Dunnagan) Lowe.  

He married Vicki Lee Lewis (Cato) and they have been together for 31 years. She survives.

Jim served three tours of duty in Viet Nam and was a drill sergeant at Fort Leonardwood.  He was employed by Dugger Swimming Pools and Altantis Pools and had worked out of the Edwardsville Labor Local and was a hod carrier at Granite City Steel.  He attended the Main Street Baptist Church in Alton, was a lifetime member of the Cottage Hills VFW Post 7678.  He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and barbequing on his smoker and most of all being with his family and friends. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son, Melissa Renault, Jamie Renault and Derrick Renault all of Clearwater, KS; his stepchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Mike Arnott of Carlinville, IL and Anthony and Lauren Cato of Waveland, MS; eleven grandchildren; a brother, Gary Lowe of Mt. Olive, IL and a sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Gene Zook of Meadowbrook; his brother-in-law, Howard Lewis; a sister-in-law, Fern Rives and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son, J.R. Renault.   

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to the Cottage Hills VFW Post #7678.
