James Henry McNatt, 83, died at 3:15 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his residence after a battle with lung cancer.He was born in Rector, Arkansas on Oct. 14, 1931, one of three children born to the late Noel & Alta (Wyatt) McNatt.James served with the U.S. Marine Corp., and served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery.For many years he was employed with Robertson Family Supply and Huskee Bilt in East St. Louis, retiring in 1981.  In 1979, he relocated with his family from East Carondelet,Il.,  after a purchasing a small farm in Otter Creek Township near Otterville, where he continued to work and enjoy the land as well as times spent with his family.He married the former Jacquelin Phillips at the Church of Christ in Cahokia, and together they have shared 58 years together and raised two sons.Surviving are his wife, Jackie McNatt of Jerseyville; two sons & a daughter in law, Noel "Tom" & Donna McNatt of Jerseyville, and James "JD" McNatt of Jerseyville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Brad & Tricia McNatt and Tara McNatt all ofJerseyville; four great grandchildren, Jace & Mace Rawe, Hayden & Ryder McNatt all of Jerseyville; a sister & brother in law, Jean & Jack Byrd of Smithon; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Noel A. McNatt.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Cremation will take place after the visitation and private burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.In lieu of any flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the American Legion Color Guard.
