J. Boerner

J. Edward Boerner, 89, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Eunice Smith Home in Alton. Born January 16, 1927 in Alton, he was the son of Julius and Blanche (Meyer) Boerner. Mr. Boerner served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and with the Army in the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto and worked for Wooff Realty. On July 1, 1961 he married the former Grace DeSherlia in Grafton. She preceded him death on July 8, 2006. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law Ann and Dave Mika of Valparaiso, IN and three grandchildren, Katie, Tom and Nathan. Also surviving is a brother Tom Boerner (Carol) of Alton, and two sisters, Eleanor Siglock of Livermore, CA, and Dorothy Levens (Loy) of Dallas, TX. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Kurt Boerner, two brothers, Robert and James Boerner, and three sisters, Jean Wagenblast, Mary Schmidt, and Peggy Tracy. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
