On Resurrection Sunday, March 31, 2013, Jesus took Irene Ester Coffman, 85, of East Alton, IL to her eternal home in Heaven.
She was born Jan. 28, 1928 in Newark, NJ to the late James Vincent & Carolina (Andriola) Tirella.
Irene attended Hearts Harvest Church in Bethalto, IL. She owned and operated Irene’s Pizza Kitchen in East Alton from 1960 to 1967 and then worked for several years at Olin as a selector until her retirement. She loved her Lord, her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She passed away while on vacation with her family in Cocoa Beach, FL, having a good time and laughing.
She was married to Robert Coffman for 25 years. They had 4 daughters together by whom she is survived: Karen Coffman of Jerseyville, IL, Debbie (Frank) Fouts of Mendota, IL, Robin Coffman and Dawn Coffman, both of Wood River, IL. Also surviving are: 2 granddaughters, Shawna Kirkpatrick of FL and Laura (Andy) Carr of Mendota, 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson and Janae Carr, a sister, Betty (Gus) Lund of Newark, NJ and 2 brothers, Paul Tirella of KS and David Tirella of NJ.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sun. April 7, 2013 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Mon. April 8, 2013 with Pastor Terry McKinzie officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Hills Cemetery.
