Ida Homer

Ida J. (Duty) Homer, 83, passed away 10:40 am Tuesday April 7, 2015 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Jerseyville.

She was born on September 8, 1931 in Godfrey, the daughter of Frank and Lula (McCray) Duty.Ida was married to Wilbur Homer and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1992. She was employed at Owens Illinois Glass as a packer and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Cottage Hills VFW Post 7678.She is survived by one son, Michael Homer of Alton; five siblings, Ellen Sessions of Alton, Louise Homer of Alton, Francis Duty of Godfrey, Fred (Sandy) Duty of Alton and Karen Duty of Godfrey; and a dear companion, Lawrence Sconce of Jerseyville, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter; Rebecca Homer; two siblings, Lydia Hodge and Florence Key; and a brother-in-law, Donald SessionsVisitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday April 13. 2015 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton where funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday April 14, 2015.
