Hugh S. Goodrich, 80, passed away at 4:03 am Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
He was born in Alton, IL on July 6, 1934, the son of W. Freamon and Hazel L. (Cox) Goodrich.
He married Nelda A. Bradford on June 29, 1956 in Cottage Hills. She survives.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a security guard for Granite City Steel for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Bethalto Church of God. He was a woodworking enthusiast and a member of Midwest Tool Collectors Association. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Jerry Wineinger of Bethalto; two grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Scott Kuhlman of Maryville and Samuel and Rachel Wineinger of Wood River; one great grandson, Alex a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Don Knox of Decatur, IL and a brother, Junior Goodrich of Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Watson and Pastor Jeremy Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
