Howard Taylor

Howard Garth Taylor, 90, went to be with the Lord at 8:35 am Monday, March 17, 2014 at United Methodist Village in Alton, with his family by his side.

He was born on April 25, 1923 in Bowen, IL, the son of G. T. and Hazel (Felgar) Taylor. 

He married Doris M. Muelder on May 28, 1944.  She preceded him in death on November 21, 2007.

Garth served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946 during WW II.  He was the Director of Rehabilitation at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ of Godfrey, Franklin Lodge #25 the Rotary Club of Bethalto and a lifetime member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. & Danise Taylor of Laurel, MS; one grandson, Nathaniel; a sister, Margaret Rowland of Bowen, IL and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A memorial visitation will be from 9:30 am until services at 11:00 am Friday, March 21, 2014 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto with Rev. Jerry MeCaskey officiating with military rites given by the Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Building Fund, Hope for Animals in Wood River or BJC Hospice.  .
