Helen Wardlow

Helen Loretta Wardlow, 92, passed away 1:04 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his residence.

Born in Granite City on July 29, 1922, she was the daughter of Matthew and Ruby (Shilato) Berres.

She had worked as an LPN at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City and had been a member of Granite City VFW Post 1300 Woman's Auxiliary.

On November 7, 1942 in Granite City, she married John Edward Wardlow.  He died May 7, 1997.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Carter) Knipping of Alton, Patti (Perry) Wenger-Markham of Dyersburg, TN, Susan Hude of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Ryan Hude, Cody Knipping, Casey (Zach) Busken; and two great grandchildren, Devin and Ethan Knipping.

Preceding in death were her parents; husband; and two brothers, John and Roy Berres.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Burail will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to the Alton 5 A's.
