Helen L. Stevens, 94, of Wood River, IL, died at 7:57 a.m. Tues. Dec. 23, 2014 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
She was born April 2, 1920 in Jerseyville, IL to the late Walter & Josie E. (Ingle) Snyder.
On Sept. 21, 1940, she and William R. Stevens were married in Potosi, MO. He preceded her in death on Mar. 24, 2004.
She is survived by: a daughter-in-law, Georgeanne Stevens, 3 grandchildren, William & his wife Shannon Stevens III, Michael Stevens and James Stevens and 3 great-grandchildren, William R. Stevens IV, Justin Stevens and Jordan Stevens.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William R. Stevens Jr. and a brother, Rupert “Buck” Snyder.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sun. Dec. 28, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funerals where services will be at 11:00 a.m. Mon. Dec. 29, 2014. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
