Helen E. Balster, age 85, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 11:12 a.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016, in Worden, Illinois. Helen was a retired bus driver having worked for Edwardsville School District #7 for 15 years. She was born June 20, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of the late Edward & Margaret (Cameron) Ware. Helen married Frederick A. Balster on February 6, 1952, in Bethalto, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2006. She is survived by 1 son, Frederick A. “Rick” Balster & wife Norma of Chesapeake, Virginia; 3 daughters, Jessica Wetzel & husband David of Alhambra, Illinois, Cynthia Jones of Trenton, Illinois, and Beverly Showalter & husband Kenneth of Worden; 8 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 2 sisters, Sally Kapp & husband Kenneth of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Kay Jansen of Branson, Missouri. Helen was preceded in death by1 son, Kevin Balster, 3 sisters, Margaret Goodall, June Middleton, and Bonnie Schmerbauch, and 1 brother, Edward Ware. Helen attended church at the First Baptist Church in Alhambra. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Gause officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
