Hazel C. Dixon

Hazel C. Dixon, age 89, passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.

She was born on October 16, 1923, in Carrolton, IL to the late Truman & Nettie (Long) Wahl.

She married Thomas F. Dixon in St. Louis, MO on June 12, 1943. He passed away on March 4, 1987.

Hazel was a member of the Wood River VFW Ladies Aux post 2859. She enjoyed playing cards on the week ends with her family and friends and loved her animals and being around her children and all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Mary Dixon of Alton; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Jo Ann Scoggins and three brothers, Loyal, Morris and Truman Wahl.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton

till time of service at 10 am, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il., with Pastor Charles West officiating.

Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL.
