Hattie Lee Green, 66 departed this life Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2:58 p.m. at Saint Anthony’s Health Center of Alton.
Hattie was born December 13, 1948 to the union of the late Gilbert and Mary (Pomerlee) Telford in Water Valley, Mississippi. She moved to Alton at the age of 12, and attended Alton public schools. Ms. Green worked at Challenge Unlimited before retiring. She was a member of Church of the Living God.
Hattie loved her family, socializing, and playing jig saw and crossword puzzles. She also had an affinity for calling family and friends a day before their birthday, ensuring she was the first to call.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Willie, Tony, and John; 5 sisters, Mary, Delois, Maeollie, Jeffie and Mildred.
Left to cherish fond memories: 5 children, Robin Green of Alton, Sherri (Timothy) Green Vaitekunas of Shreveport, LA, Michael (Gwendolyn) Green of Edwardsville, Brian (Yolanda) Green of Florissant, MO, and Kristopher (Elizabeth) Phelps; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Phillip (Ella) Telford of Alton, and Gilbert (Marydale) Telford of Edwardsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will convene Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Deliverance Temple Complex C.O.G.I.C. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
