Harry G. Rollins, 86, passed away 3:58 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.Born on July 2, 1927 in Waterloo, IA, he was the son of Harry G. and Sarah (Neith) Rollins.A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a mechanical engineer for Shell Oil for 32 years before retiring in 1987.On May 7, 1950 in Hampton, NH, he married the former Virginia Ohl. She survives.Surviving also are a son, Michael (Susan) Rollins of Abington Township, PA; daughter, Stephanie (John) Hogan of Wood River; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Griffith of Arlington, VA.He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Ziemer and Dorothy Tucker.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton. Rev. Jamie Hahs will officiate.Burial will be in South Buxton Cemetery in Bar Mills, Maine.Memorials may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church.Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
