Harold E. Jouett, 89, died at 8:43 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton. Born July 27, 1925 in Carrollton, IL, he was the son of Raymond and Maude (Dawson) Jouett. He was a member of 12th Street Presbyterian Church for over 60 years until closing. He retired from the Olin Corporation as a metallurgist after over 40 years of service. On August 12, 1945 he married the former Velva Mae Federle. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, LuAnn K. Elmore (Hal) of Naperville, IL, and Jolene J. Mermis (Bill) of Alton, one son, Danny E. Jouett (JaNeen) of Spring, TX, seven grandchildren, Mike, Chris and Todd Jouett (Paige), Lindsay Elmore and Lauren Stead (Zach), and Jarrod and Dakota Mermis, and six great grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth E. Jouett, four sisters, Geraldine Kessinger, Evalene Admire, Pauline Perkins, Imogene Powell, and a brother, Raymuth Jouett.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
