Gregory A. Spurgeon, 60, passed away unexpectedly at 5:51 pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on July 19, 1953 in Alton, the son of the late Burrell J. & Doris I. (Baldridge) Spurgeon.
He was married to Colleen (Campuzano) and she survives.
Greg was employed at Shell Oil Company for 20 year. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 520, since December 21, 1976. He enjoyed guns, fishing with his grandchildren, his dogs and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by five children and their spouses, Victor and Taun Spurgeon of Dorsey, Abby & Ronaldo Castillo of Hollywood, FL, Leslie and Jim Beer of Dorsey, Chris & Rebecca Ryan of Dorsey and Elizabeth Lee of Turner, OR; seven grandchildren, Ethan, Austin, Isaac, Addison, Sarah, Katie and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Abbigale E. Klotz
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be at 10 am on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the 1st Congregational Church of Bunker Hill, IL with Pastor Jeremy Wood officiating.
Inurnment will be at Moro Presbyterian Church in Moro, IL directly following the service.
