Gladys S. Hoyt, 94, formerly of Wood River, passed away 11:30 a.m. July 19, 2014 at her residence.
Born in Alton on September 23, 1919, she was the daughter of Leonard A. and Mary (Denton) Sheff.
She had been an equipment Assistant for G & E Northwest for 22 years before retiring in 1982.
Gladys had been a member of the Elk's Lodge # 1862 in Hillsboro, OR, Alton VFW Post #1308 Ladies Auxillary, Alton Moose Lodge #1131 and Alton Eagles Aires #254.
She married John Butz, Sr. and then on September 25, 1963 in Beaverton, OR, Harold L. Hoyt, who died on January 5, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Bob Butz of Portland, OR; daughter, Barbara (Michael) Oliver of Portland, OR; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; both husbands; two sons, John Butz, Jr., Arthur Butz; five brothers; six sisters.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Upper Alton Cemetery. Mr. Chris Oliver will officiate.
