Gerald Richard “Dick” Myers, 78, died at 4:47 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Christian Hospital Northeast. Born August 3, 1936 in Alton, he was the son of Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Scroggins) Myers. Mr. Myers served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the St. Louis Home Builders Association and the Moolah Shrine Temple, St. Louis, MO. He worked for Ginter-Wardein Lumber Co., later Great Central Lumber Co., for 56 years of which he was general manager for 52 years. On February 20, 1955 he married Sharon D. Peterson. She preceded him in death on November 29, 1969. He married Kathleen Belcher on November 13, 1970 in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Tracie Myers (Jo) of Richfield, MN, two sons, Richard Myers (Tara) of St. Peters, MO, and Gerald C. Myers (Laura) of Fenton, MO, four grandchildren, Jake, Cade, Ella and Leanna Myers, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Myers, and two sisters, Jean Lawless and Jane Zantek. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015.
