George Michael Jr., 80 passed away at 3:10 am Saturday February 15, 2014 at home with his family by his side while under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born on March 30, 1933 in Alton, IL the son of the George Sr. & Estella (Bowman) Michael.
He married Edna Howard on April 1, 1956 and she preceded him in death on June 11, 1984.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and then worked at Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing Music.
He loved his family and is survived by a son, George Michael III. of East Alton, a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy & Eric Stauffer of Alton; six grandchildren, William Michael, Timothy (Desiree`) Michael, Eric (Whitney) Michael, Kayla (Dustin) Edwards, Lacey Freeman and Brittney Booten, 12 great grandchildren, Ethan, Pierce, Tobias, Jocelyn, Gabriel, Wyatt, Treyton, Michael, Lucas, Ayden, Abbygail and his “Little Buddy” Charlie, and one sister, Betty Warren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Martin and Janice McCoy
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday February 19, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey with Alton VFW Post 1308 conducting military rites
