Gary Lee Boston, 78, died at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Roodhouse on Nov. 29, 1934, and was the son of the late Frank & Mildred (Blackburn) Boston.
Gary spent his younger years in the Winchester and Murrayville areas, and served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army, serving a short period in the airborne division.
He was employed for 32 years as a machinist at Olin Corp. in East Alton, and was a member of Westlake Country Club and Elks Lodge #954 both of Jerseyville before becoming disabled.
He is survived by four daughters, Brenda Boston, Gerry Laird, Bonnie Ward, Karen Boston, and their mother, Jeanette Boston all of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren & their spouses, Racheal & Erik Sedam of Carbondale, Kansas, Brandy & Jeremy Springman of Jerseyville, Heather Laird, and her companion, Eric Fickas of Greenfield, Jackie Laird of Carlinville, Rebecca & Matt Wells of Jerseyville, Mary Bell of Jerseyville, Susan Ward, and her companion, Josh Snyder of Carrollton; eight great grandchildren; a sister & brother in law, Shirley & Lou Pate of Jacksonville; a brother & sister in law, Fred & Stephanie Boston of Winchester; a half brother & his wife, Gene & Floy Coffman of Roodhouse; and a brother in law, Ercil Little of Jacksonville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Little.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.
