Gary Kelly

Gary Dee Kelly, age 71, of Alton, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015, at Christian Northeast Hospital.He was born January 9, 1944, in Shawneetown, IL, the son of Wilburn T. and Martha J. (Smith) Kelly. Mr. Kelly served in the United States Navy from 1961 until 1965. He married Loretta Lara on April 22, 1967 and she preceded him in death.Gary attended Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. He went to the coffee shop every morning to visit with his friends. Mr. Kelly was an avid golfer who had played in many leagues. He also enjoyed watching football.He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Terri Kelly-Morey of Bethalto, and Robert Kelly-Morey of Kearney, MO; a brother and his wife, Ricky and Dottie Kelly; a sister and her husband, Peggy and Skip Wonnacott; a grandson, Christopher Kelly-Morey; a great-grandson, Austin William Kelly-Morey; a close friend, Larry Kenshalo; and many other friends and relatives.In addition to his wife, Loretta; he is preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Denise Lynn Kelly in 1991.Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:30 am until the time of a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am at Roselawn Memory Gardens Chapel. Military burial rites will be provided by Alton VFW Post #1308.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home of Alton is in charge of arrangements.
